The Kannawidan Festival holds a special place in the hearts of the people of Ilocos Sur as it embodies their rich cultural heritage. Members of the Sangguniang Panlalawigan, employees of the provincial and national government agencies, civil society groups, and private sectors attended the holy mass, which was then followed by a procession.
The festival was launched in front of the provincial capitol. The crowd was entertained by Kapuso stars, who performed beautiful modern songs. In addition, the Provincial Government of Ilocos Sur (PGIS) officials unveiled the One Ilocos Sur Welcome Arc and launched the Kannawidan Festival logo and the official Ilocos Sur Kannawidan Festival song for that year.
The event was marked with a fireworks display that amazed the public, signifying the start of the grandest festivities in Ilocos Sur.
